IFREE awards Dr. Stephen Leider with the 2019 Vernon L. Smith Ascending Scholar Prize
January 7, 2020 IFREE presents Dr. Stephen Leider with the 2019 Vernon L. Smith Ascending Scholar Prize in Orange, CA.
Vernon Smith presented the award to Dr. Leider. “It is my great pleasure to recognize you for this award. I want to say that although we look at your past to do this evaluation. This is a prediction about your future.” Smith’s next remarks were met with laughter when he humorously said, “You now have an obligation. This is not a free ride. This is an obligation. Best of luck with what you do.”
This award honors a “budding genius” to set lofty goals for themselves as a social-science theorist, practitioner, colleague, mentor, and truth seeker and to inspire others to do so as well. The awardee offered reflection and advice to attendees of the 2020 Graduate Workshop.
The International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics is pleased to congratulate Dr. Leider and looks forward to following his career in the years to come.
